FHU is currently looking for a summer intern to join us in our Greenwood Village, Colorado location working on environmental, historic, landscape architecture and/or public/open space* / *trail* projects, with opportunities for experience in the following: *
- Opportunities to perform site visits, field research, construction observation, plant identification (desirables and non-desirable), wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and wildlife monitoring.
- Opportunities to assist in the development of historic surveys, including field surveys, research, site forms, and report preparation.
- Opportunities to assist in data public engagement, stakeholder interviews, data collection/analysis, mapping, research and written documentation.
- Opportunities to write technical documents including reports, grants proposals, studies (biological resources reports, wetland delineations, water consumption, trail use, open space visitor behavior, etc.) and supporting document deliverable activities.
- Opportunities to assist in landscape design, marketing graphics, project simulations, modeling, drafting, construction documentation.
Requirements
Desired Internship Qualifications
- Undergraduate (Junior or higher status) or Graduate student in Environmental Science, Environmental Design, Ecology, Botany, Wildlife Biology, Historic Preservation, Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or a closely related field.
- Field work experience
- Strong computer skills (especially GIS, CADD, Adobe Suite, illustrations, modeling).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Available for 3-month time-frame.
- Knowledge of Colorado native and exotic plants, wildlife, irrigation, outdoor design and policy
- Knowledge of NEPA
- Team building, collaboration, leadership
- Understanding of the design process, project funding, construction
- GIS data collection and/or mapping
Hourly Rate Pay Range: $16/hour - $19/hour
