SURVEY INSTRUMENT OPERATOR:
Our Fort Worth office is seeking an experienced FIELD SURVEY INSTRUMENT OPERATOR to join its survey team. The Survey person will work in a transportation oriented setting which will include highways, railroads, public and private sites.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years related experience
- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience operating the following equipment: Differential and Digital Levels, Total Stations (Manual and Robotic Units), Data collector, Laser Scanners and survey Global Positioning Systems (GPS) units.
- Must be dependable and have a good driving record.
- Must be capable of passing applicable safety training requirements.
- Ability to successfully pass a seven year criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Taking General Survey Classes
- Certified Survey Technician Certification Level 1 and or Level 2 (FIELD TRACK)
- 10 Hour OSHA Certification
- CPR/AED/Basic First Aid Certification
- Familiarity with TxDOT standards
- Experience with Leica survey equipment.
General Duties & Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Operate the equipment necessary to collect information in an accurate manner and locate points in the proper location for accurate mapping practices.
- Prepare and maintain survey notes to company standards or verbal instructions.
- Operate the following equipment: Differential and Digital Levels, Total Stations (EDM) both Manual and Robotic Units, Data collector, Laser Scanners and survey Global Positioning Systems (GPS) units.
- Utilize point codes in the field to establish line work for post processing purposes.
Work Environment
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts by roadway, major highway and rail traffic, working in timber and brush areas and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Frequently required to travel for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk long distances, climb or balance, stoop or kneel and drive a motor vehicle. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus of survey instrumentation and read maps, plans and legal descriptions.
