Position Description
Contributes to the university's mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Course topics may include applied instrumental, vocal, or conducting studies at the undergraduate or graduate level (pending qualifications), graduate or undergraduate academic courses in the areas of music history, music theory, or music education, or undergraduate courses in the area of commercial music including songwriting, recording, music business, or music industry.
  • Classes may be offered using the following modalities: face to face, hybrid, and/or online at the Lubbock campus.
  • Be able to adapt and update course content to meet curricula and student needs as well utilize and adapt to diverse teaching modalities.
  • Job assignments can be full-time or part-time depending on the needs of the department.

Required Qualifications
Ability to teach effectively. Job assignment can be full-time or part-time depending on the needs of the department. This position will be classified as Security Sensitive and requires a criminal background check if selected for employment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Academic degree as appropriate for the position held.
  • Preferred Qualifications: MM, DMA, or PhD, and/or Industry Experience
  • Effective teaching ability evidenced by a minimum of one year of experience as an instructor at the university level.
