  • SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY - Job Summary (general statement of purpose or objective of position)
      Responsible for identifying principal and secondary diagnoses, and procedures on hospital accounts with basic knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding. goals. The Inpatient Coder I will work with the coding team to help with improving the accuracy, integrity, and quality of coded patient data. Responsible for identifying principal and secondary diagnoses, and procedures on all encounters; assigning appropriate ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes for each record. Progressively achieving accuracy as well as all data abstraction and data entry to support all of the regulatory and coding compliance requirements, including core measures and hospital statistics. Understanding of coding ethics and compliance. The Inpatient Coder I will follow sequencing and reporting procedures mandated by government, and other payer for completion of coded data, including DRG and APC assignments. Performs all other duties as assigned
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Knowledge, skills, abilities, license, registration, certification, education, and experience
      CCS, RHIT, or RHIA eligible. Ability to obtain CCS within 2 years of hire date. Previous experience with 3M, and EPIC is strongly desired. Ability to abstract all required data elements via the 3M 360 Encoder and EPIC abstracting module for all patient visits.
