DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Primary purpose of the Department of Human Services (DHS) Information Technology Technician is to provide support to computer users in the Human Services Local Area Network (LAN). This position requires an in-depth understanding of PC hardware, peripherals, devices and software applications and the ability to independently setup and configure PC equipment, as well as identify, research and resolve first-tier technical problems as determined by the Information Technology administration. May be required to work outside of normal hours.

Respond to telephone calls and email from personnel requesting technical support from the DHS Help Desk. Document, track and monitor all technical problems to ensure a timely resolution. Ability to lift, move and transport equipment weighing as much as 50 pounds. Install and test client applications, including communication software. Perform routine office duties. Travel and report to other offices as needed to support Human Services computer users.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • An associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • Two years of experience providing information technology support services involving hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law:
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
