Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing technical functions related to
personal computer applications development and hardware maintenance. Reports to the Business

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Installs, administers, tests, maintains, and troubleshoots the department’s hardware and software;
responsible for resolution of problems with personal computers and related equipment; performs
routine preventive maintenance on computer peripheral devices and related equipment; maintains
inventory and recommends the acquisition of additional, replacement, and upgraded hardware and
software to meet the department’s data processing needs.
Integrates mainframe databases with PC applications with the assistance of Data Processing staff; and
uses query tools to access mainframe data using open database connectivity (ODBC).
Provides support to users on software packages by providing formal and informal training; and
installs new releases on existing computers; serves as the departmental consultant by evaluating and
recommending personal computer hardware and software and providing support to users on
supported software packages. Researches department operations, assesses and analyzes computer
needs and recommends software programs; and resolves technical questions by reading and
comprehending technical manuals.
May have limited responsibilities to the installation, maintenance, and administration of the
department local area network (LAN).
Performs other duties as assigned.
