An IE Capacity engineer is part of the Industrial Engineering (IE) Planning Team and is responsible for Area capacity, capital, and space planning, to analyze and optimize the strategic plan for all Technology Development (TD) product families. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Safety

  • Completes all required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with Micron and Technology Development (TD) safety policies
  • Follows all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Reports all safety-related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual (Emergency Response Team, Supervision, etc.)
  • Performs audits and submits good catches on safety issues


Communication/Collaboration

  • Partners closely with IE Modeling to discuss model changes to understand why capacity will be impacted and Layout Coordinators to optimize Area space.
  • Coordinates Area team on capital justifications and planning driven assumption changes
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders on future production and development wafers, capacity, and space planning
  • Partners closely with the Process Development Engineering (PDE), Manufacturing Development Engineering (MDE), Operations Development Engineering (ODE), Procurement, and Facilities stakeholders to keep updated on strategic area plans, priorities, and projects


Project Management/Planning

  • Designs and coordinates projects with several different departments
  • Creates timelines with milestones for complex tasks and projects
  • Minimizes duplication through effective planning
  • Adjusts plans based on execution to milestones and factors in capabilities when setting plans


Technical/Data Analysis

  • Applies IE concepts to capacity analysis, constraint management, and space planning
  • Evaluates what-if scenarios representing changes to capacity metrics and partners with engineering to understand the impact of the changes
  • Uses experience and observations to design experiments to get to the root cause on issues
  • Analyzes and interprets internal and external data sources to suggest capacity changes
  • Incorporates experience and observations to design experiments to determine necessary area changes
  • Drives action through effective data and clear communication

  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing science (scheduling, inventory management, capacity planning, etc.)
  • Demonstrated skill at prioritizing area projects for engineering and production based on capacity and cycle time needs
  • Intermediate understanding of database management methods and techniques
  • Preferred skills in computer science (SQL, python, etc)


Education and Experience

  • Required: BS in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Operations Management (POM), equivalent degree, or relevant experience
  • Preferred: MS in an Engineering Field
  • Preferred: Demonstrated engineering internship
