Using your advanced knowledge of Employee Relations, labor law, HR policies and practices, you’ll lend effective HR guidance while supporting the goals and mission of the organization. You’ll be a collaborator who participates in a variety of initiatives and constant process improvement work.
If this is how you view your work as an HR Generalist, we invite you to consider this opportunity.Responsibilities: Manage workload in MyHR Case Management to include initial intake of employee, manager, retiree and vendor questions received through various communication platforms; develop an in-depth understanding of customer needs, making any required customer follow-up calls and conducting additional research as necessary; provide accurate, consistent and timely responses to HR processes, system and policy requests and inquires; escalate complex cases to appropriate HR colleagues when subject matter expertise, research, or judgment is required; and update cases with accurate information on open assigned cases, detailing efforts and final case resolution.
Division wide support of all HR functional areas:
Employee Relations: Interpretation and consultation of contract language regarding employment transfers for collective bargaining unit agreements between Legacy Health and Emanuel Local 49, Emanuel Local 555 Pharmacists, Emanuel Local 555 Pharmacy Technicians, Emanuel Local 701, Good Samaritan Local 49, and Good Samaritan Local 701.
Advise and consult all levels of employees regarding personal and professional issues that affect the employee and work environment and concerns and disciplinary actions. Fulfill Subpoena Duces Tecum, employee and attorney file requests within specified timelines – including communication with the requesting representative, gathering of all records required, reviewing and sending records.
Manage employee records in the HRIS (Lawson) to include, but not limited to credential tracking – verifications, notifications and updates according to applicable board standards. Process and data enter employment separations in accordance with Federal, OR and WA State employment laws.
Benefits: Interpret and explain the Employee Benefits Guide; determine eligibility for life events; IS support for completing benefit enrollment and life events through the Employee Self-Service portal; explain of 403b, 401a and Legacy Health pension plans; explain and use of flexible spending accounts; explain and use of employer provided life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment plans, verify employee health plan coverage; explain COBRA options and available options and advise on appeals.
Compensation: Advise and consult all levels of employees on timekeeping, pay practices and CBAs in accordance with Legacy Health policies, applicable regulatory bodies, and Federal, State and local regulations.
Employee and Family Leave: Facilitate and advise on appropriate protected leave options to include explanation of applicable FMLA, OFLA, WCLA, WLAD, WASCA, USERRA, ADA, OR and WA Military FMLA, OR Crime Victim’s Leave Acts, and OR and WA Domestic Violence Leave.
Employment: Assist, facilitate, and verify compliance with EEOC regulations, collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) requirements, and organizational policy for internal employee transfers, promotions, demotions, and changes affecting employment with Legacy Health.
Organizational Development: Support performance management with guidance through E+ and organizational offered training. Guide and advise on completing and maintaining performance reviews – peer selection, self-reviews, and manager sign offs.
Analyze, maintain, and propose department procedures in accordance with applicable regulatory bodies, municipal, state and national regulatory requirements.
Prepare and complete employment verifications in compliance with department and organizational policies. Complete WA State background checks in accordance with RCW 43.43.830-.845.Complete and provide reports to employees as requested and appropriate.Lead projects and other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field. Relevant experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
Experience:Two years of applicable HR generalist experience; three or more years of HR experience preferred. Advanced use of personal computers, MS Office, and HR applications required. Advanced knowledge and use of HR policies, standards, practices and regulations related to all HR functional areas, internal policies, practices governing payroll and wage and hour to ensure compliance with municipal, state and federal wage and hour law(s). Experience with LEAN processes and tools preferred.
Skills:Requires excellent organizational, customer service, and written and verbal communication; tact and diplomacy when communicating with customers; advanced cognitive and analytical skills preferred; the ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers over various communication platforms; objectively communicate with employees through complex, difficult and emotional issues; make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by utilizing judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation and/or employment law; the ability to collect, report, and participate in presenting data and information to diverse audiences to all levels of the organization is preferred.
