Opportunity
At CLCV, Human Resources (HR) is focused on understanding what people need and knowing how to provide it. This is a role for someone with a lot of initiative the organization is going through a lot of growth and has an entrepreneur culture.
We are in search of a qualified and resourceful HR Generalist to support our HR department in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The HR Generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, helping us to plan and administer important functions, such as staffing, training and development, and compensation and benefits. Objectives of this Role
- Support our Racial Justice and Equity goals and work internally (implementation, etc.)
- Assist in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies, providing guidance and interpretation for business operations
- Support org development more broadly (retreats, planning, talent management, etc.)
- Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements
- Coordinate administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance evaluation programs
- Suggest new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR department and organization as a whole, and to improve employee experience
- Work to ensure staff are thriving, have the tools they need and partnering cross functionally, etc.
- Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required
Responsibilities
- Guide and coordinate employee relations and problem solving with a strong Racial Justice and Equity lens. Develop and deliver trainings to support inclusive and equitable management practices and professional development of staff and managers.
- Build and inspire trust and accountability across staff hierarchies. Promote a culture of open and constructive feedback, staff consultation, learning, accountability and equity.
- Collaborate with the HR team to develop effective recruitment strategies and to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Draft and update job descriptions.
- Assist with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and supporting the hiring processes.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Prepare paperwork, schedule, and facilitate smooth new hire onboarding process, coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional first-day experience.
- Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, and exit interviews, including entering data into HR information systems and auditing for accuracy and compliance.
- Review and update employee performance review systems and ensure staff development and engagement across teams and the organization.
- Maintain employee personnel records.
- Process complaints regarding sexual harassment, discrimination, or other instances of workplace harassment and assist in any necessary investigations and disciplinary actions.
- Provide an effective and dedicated HR advisory service to employees in relation to absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters.
- Assist and be the primary backup for payroll processing, including updates to employee files, tracking vacation/sick pay, importing expense reimbursements, inputting exceptions, and benefit changes.
- Manage 401K plan administration, including: Approval of transactions (loans, distributions, etc.), monitoring compliance with plan rules and federal regulations, distributing annual notices, compliance filing (Form 5500, Safe Harbor notices, Form 1099-R) and day-to-day employee/participant communication.
- Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, organizational chart, contributes to the development of and updates to HR policies .
- Facilitate COVID-19 preparedness and respond for all COVid-19 related matters and inquiries.
- Review, track and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education and work assessments (safety training, anti-harassment training, aptitude exams, etc.)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of the human resources functions and best practices
- Understanding of state and federal employment regulations
- Awareness of OSHA regulations and compliance
- Understanding of personnel and compliance records management
- Strong analytical, decision-making, problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality; Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience working in an HR department
- Natural interpersonal and communication skills; strong detail-oriented and resourceful mindset
- PHR or SPHR certification
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years human resources experience
- Experience with HRMS/HRIS systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
