Full Time Human Resource (HR) Specialist position with Baltimore Medical System, the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Maryland. Hours is M-F, 8:30am to 5:00pm.


The HR Specialist/Privileging Coordinator is knowledgeable on all functions of the Privileging process including but not limited to privileging and re-privileging process. When not serving as back up for Privileging functions, will support other areas in Human Resources (temporary and regular) as needs arise and be assigned general and special projects. Responsibility exists for compliance with Joint Commission requirements and maintenance of statistical data required for documentation. Frequent communication outside of the work group is required to resolve disagreements, reach agreements and clarify issues/processes. Responsibility exists to ensure that internal customers are satisfied with service. Communication with external contacts is for providing or receiving factual information. Courtesy and tact are required in dealing with customers.

Responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Baltimore Medical System Core Values, policies/ procedures and applicable civil laws. Is accountable for efficient use of resources and support of the BMS mission.

Essential functions:

Serves as Privileging Coordinator in the areas of privileging, re-privileging, audits, meetings, minutes, regulatory compliance.

Assists in temporary staffing and recruitment of regular staff as assigned.

Skilled at the utilization of queries to create customized reports, to pull standard reports and to locate data within the system.

Assists in the compliance required by TJC requirements.

Maintains contract database of all agency contracts and ensures all contracts are current as well as all insurance information.

Coordinates with agency to ensure all temps have met all requirements prior to working.

Ensures that any temporary working under a license that the license is current and remains so throughout the placement.

Performs routine and as needed audits for compliance and security of the systems.

Assists with routine internal Joint Commission requirements compliance and follows up to ensure compliance, performing routine and random audits as assigned.

Completes special projects as requested.

Maintains statistical data (turnover, tenure, etc.)

Responsible for the tracking and facilitation of the updating of all HR policies.

Responsible for the auditing and upkeep of job descriptions.

Provides recruitment support and may carry own panel of positions at high volume times as assigned by Director.


HS, GED or AA required. BA/BS Degree in Business Management, Human Resources or relevant field preferred.

Three (3) to five (5) years experience as Privileging Coordinator

Five (5) years HR Generalist experience with background in HRIS Systems and recruitment preferred.

Healthcare experience highly preferred.
