Job Summary

Specializes in electronic health record analysis of issues regarding the quality of the patient medical record. Performs qualitative and quantitative reviews and provides feedback to management and education to staff regarding all review findings. Ensures consistency in work product quality; addressing non-coding functions.

Job Specific Duties

  • Performs routine quality audits of scanned documents in the EHR environment.
  • Responsible for the correction of documents/clinical notes in the patient medical record EHR environment.
  • Assists with customer service support phone calls from internal and external HIM customers.
  • Performs a variety of duties to ensure records are complete and all appropriate documentation is present in the correct location in the patient medical record.
  • Communicates with end-users for effective resolution to documentation integrity issues.
  • Reviews scanning in progress report and provides education to users for accurate scanning processes.
  • Follows release of information policies/procedures.
Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience working in a health information management department or related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to learn appropriate software application(s).
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with customers and co-workers.
  • Adaptable to frequent changes in assignments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good organizational skills.
