Position Title:
HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICS TEACHER


SUMMARY:

Responsible for teaching four (4) sections of 9th grade Physics and one (1) section of Physics for Engineers. Works collaboratively with the other Physics teachers on curriculum content, common assessments and student support.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.

  • Establishes a positive and productive learning environment, setting challenging, yet realistic expectations for students. Demonstrates an understanding of the learning processes of adolescents and develops lessons, labs and assessments which appropriately reflect these stages.
  • Work with the Physics PLC, made up of all the Physics teachers in the department, to appropriately assess, modify and create content that aligns with the State and District standards.
  • Supports students on MCAS Physics content in preparation for the MCAS in the spring.
  • Support students learning using Tier 1 interventions in the classroom, and if needed, refer for additional support to Physics Workshop.
  • Support students’ social/emotional learning by fostering relationships with students and clear communication with other teachers, parents, guidance counselors and support staff as needed.
