SUMMARY
Assists with and coordinates local area computer network activities and works the help desk with the responsibility of solving operator problems with the minimal amount of down time possible. Installs, modifies, and makes repairs to microcomputer hardware and software systems and provides technical assistance and training to system users by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Help Desk Duties:
Answers client's inquiries concerning systems operation. Diagnoses and corrects hardware, software, and operator problems.

Maintains and documents Help Desk Log.

Inspects microcomputer equipment and reads order sheet listing user requirements to prepare microcomputer for delivery.

Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives.

Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computer.

Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation. Instructs user in use of equipment, software, and manuals.

Replaces defective or inadequate software and hardware.

Performs and/or arranges preventative maintenance on time clocks, printers, and PC’s.

Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.

Network Duties:
Establishes and maintains network users, user environment, directories, and security.

Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs.

Remains abreast of changes in user and system software and hardware requirements.

Monitors and administers the network, keeping system information up-to-date in a network log.

Updates the operating system as required.

Loads and updates software applications as required.

Manages memory usage of the network, network printing, and network technical resources.

Maintains a backup of all files, security (internal and external), and rights.

Maintains hardware and software service contracts.

Other duties as required by the IS Manager.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Self-starter

2 -year computer information systems degree or equivalent work experience.

Prefer A+ and MCSA certification.
