Job Description


The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Heavy equipment may include wheel loaders, excavators; screening, crushing, and material conveying systems; street sweepers; skid steers; and other heavy equipment. The Heavy Equipment Operator must also clean, inspect, and secure all equipment and perform minor preventative and other maintenance on his/her equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations and all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform and document daily safety and maintenance checks.
  • Perform minor preventative and other maintenance.
  • Clean equipment as scheduled or necessary.
  • Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience operating front end wheel loaders; excavators; screening, crushing, and material conveying systems; street sweepers; skid steers; and other similar equipment.
  • Knowledge of equipment inspection, preventative maintenance, and cleaning standards.
  • Ability to work independently in a safe and efficient manner and to follow safety policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in using a wheel loader, dozer, excavator, skid steer loader and other related heavy equipment
  • Willingness and ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments, including occasional work outdoors
  • Willingness and ability to wear company provided personal protection equipment including eye protection, steel toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls and respirator
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds throughout the workday
