Position Summary
Summary:
The HVAC/Refrigeration/Utilities Technician is responsible for installations, repair, and preventative maintenance of HVAC and Refrigeration equipment and its various supporting systems. Systems include but are not limited to DX / compressor driven air conditioners and refrigerators ranging in size up to150 ton, chilled water production chillers ranging in size up to 460 ton, chilled water distribution and circulatory pump systems, hot and cold water coil maintenance, and variable frequency drives which support the hospital's energy management system. Technicians are responsible for maintaining proper air balance in various environments in accordance with the Facilities Guideline Institute's pressure, temperature, and humidity standards. Additional supporting activities include temperature monitoring system and building management / energy management system maintenance. Position holder may be required to perform other duties as assigned, dependent upon departmental and customer needs and workload.
Position Details


    Standard Work Duties: Heating/AC/Refrigeration Mechanic
  • Installs, repairs, rebuilds, and maintains HVAC systems, controls, and equipment. Ensuring efficient and safe equipment operation.
  • Adherence to organizational and department policies, including employee responsibilities under the OSHA standards.
  • Installs, repairs, rebuilds, and maintains ice machines, small refrigerators, and ice makers.
  • Maintains, programs and operates the facility management system so as to assure efficient operation.
  • Complete required documentation to meet regulatory agency requirements including work orders and PM records.
  • Performs refrigerant reclamations in accordance with EPA guidelines.
  • Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot systems and accurately complete air or water balance testing.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in theory related to design of air and water systems and makes adjustments based on results of testing. Diagnoses and implements corrective duct work modifications.
  • Responsible for inventory control, ordering, and use of the hospital's material procurement system.
  • Maintains work environment and shop areas on a daily basis to provide a safe work environment for all staff.

  • Licenses Essential: Valid Drivers licenses, EPA Universal reclamation certification, N.A.T.E. Stage 1
    Certifications Essential: HVAC certification training program. Will consider10+ years of related experience in lieu of HVAC training program.
    Certifications Preferred: N.A.T.E. stage 1, 2, 3, 4
