DUTIES: The Medical Biller performs a variety of clerical duties related to preparing, processing and reviewing medical bills for covered expenses to private and government insurance agencies and other third party payers’. The Biller is responsible for contacting payer sources for follow-up and disposition of accounts, as well as ensuring that billings are processed in an accurate and timely manner. Perform clinic office duties under the direction of the Clinic Manager or Program Director. QUALIFICATIONS: Following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act. High school diploma or equivalent. At least five (5) years of clinical billing experience in health care. Knowledge of EMR strongly preferred. Knowledge of LA County DMH billing reconciliation preferred. Must have valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if driving personal vehicle on BHS business. Vision, hearing, manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties. Able to sit at desk, use keyboard, write and physically perform other job duties. Able to move about the facility to observe clients and staff. Specific qualifications may vary based on assignment. Recovering individuals must have a minimum two years clean, sober and abstinent to be considered for employment.
