Head of People
Abodu - Redwood City, CA

We're looking for our first Head of People, who will build and grow all aspects of Abodu's people management program. You will report directly to the CEO, with the responsibility of building rigor and operational excellence in how we approach finding new team members, onboarding/training, professional development and long-term retention. Our team has grown to 35+ employees in the past year and we expect continued growth over the next year. While it's tough to define the wide range of tasks that this role is responsible for, we've taken our best shot below.

And, we’ve got an inspiring, brilliant and inclusive team. Staff and Team Success- Develop internal trainings on specific topics such as hiring and conducting performance reviews
- Provide ongoing coaching for managers (“coach the coach”)
- Update and facilitate staff onboarding and promotion processes and structures
- Identify and address communication or policy pain points that impact the day to day operations of the staff
- Act as a facilitator to elevate ideas from different perspectives of the organization
- Support leadership team in considerations for growth or financial projections
- Support all ongoing hiring efforts, generally
Policies and processes- Ensure we are evaluating internal policies, to maintain and improve our work culture. This can include everything from the employee handbook to standard operating procedures around the use of tools like Slack
- Maintain internal Wiki which provides key updates and information for the staff
- Maintain job descriptions for current and future employees; support hiring efforts to ensure new hires meet overall staff expectations
- Create and maintain performance guidelines across all levels in Abodu's HR Career Ladder
- Lead all employee performance review processes
- Lead biweekly employee engagement surveys
Coordination of culture-building efforts- As we continue to grow offices across multiple geographies, reimagine our office space to support our team culture
- Identify and implement opportunities for culture building or training
Requirements- Min 4+ years People Ops or HR experience, preferably at a startup
- Experience with managing an internal professional development program for a growing business
- Experience with establishing standardized employee processes across an organization
- Ability and desire to be hands-on until we need to grow the team
- A data-driven approach to decision making, with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Self-starter who takes initiative and responsibility for their work and actions of their team
- Comfort working in the uncertainty of a new company, with a consistently evolving agenda
