About the Position The Head Men's and Women's Cross Country, Track and Field Coach is responsible for all aspects of the men’s and women’s track and field and cross country programs including but not limited to: recruitment of qualified student athletes, practice planning and organization, monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, budgeting, scheduling, coordination of team travel, fostering a culture of competitiveness, supervising assistant coaches, administrative duties, participation in department initiatives, compliance with all CSUEB, CCAA, and NCAA rules and regulations. Responsibilities Coaching: Recruiting: Compliance and Academic Progress: Program and Department Administration: This position has been identified to have significant responsibility for student and campus activities, and will be required to function as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act. In accordance with CSU Executive Order 1107, Implementation of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the incumbent will be responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act crimes to the University Police Department and/or the University Clery Director. Responsibilities of the CSA include: Required Qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills Minimum Qualifications A Master’s degree and extensive experience coaching within a highly competitive program are required to be appointed at this level. Condition(s) of Employment Satisfactory completion of a background check (including LiveScan, as appropriate), that may include, but is not limited to: criminal records check, verification of academic credentials, licenses, certificates, credit history, professional references and/or verification of work history is required for employment. Cal State East Bay will issue a conditional offer of employment to the selected candidate, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Day to day planning and supervision of training for cross country and track & field athletes
Strategize, prepare, and coach athletes at competitions
Provide instruction and development for individual/team improvement, teach overall team and individual athlete strategies, analyze athlete performance, prepare student-athletes for highest possible level of competition
Manage staff to adhere to overall vision for program and execute daily responsibilities accordingly
Assist with the implementation of strength & conditioning program for team
Provide support for other areas of student-athlete experience off the field
Recruit prospective student-athletes within the guidelines of CSUEB and NCAA academic admission standards
Maintain roster sizes and compilations that position the program to compete at highest possible levels
Work to strategically advance recruiting tactics and effectiveness to consistently meet evaluation benchmarks
Work with compliance office and academic advising to monitor and support student-athletes making progress towards degree completion and graduation
Complete all department and NCAA requirements for compliance including but not limited to: weekly CARA logs, recruiting logs, roster management, schedule submissions, and contact notifications
Participate in all scheduled compliance programming
Work with compliance office and academic advising for admission of recruited prospective student-athletes
Work with sport supervisor to develop and manage program budget, schedule, meals, team travel, and other administrative needs
Complete necessary administrative tasks and adhere to deadlines
Participate as warranted in department initiatives including but not limited to special events, fundraising, programming, home contest staffing
Ability to work with diverse populations
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules
Ability to coach athletes for improved performance over time to reach high levels of competition
Knowledge of NCAA Division II program planning (budget, scheduling, etc)
Ability to contribute to a professional organization
Technology literate in standard office programs and basic project management (job specific) software
