What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

Leading a group of product managers, you'll be responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and day to day execution of Tanzu Observability’s Kubernetes efforts. Together with your team you will be identifying and addressing the needs of Developers, Site Reliability Engineers (SRE), and Operations Teams as they embrace Kubernetes and build cloud-native applications based on modern architectures, and operate at scale distributed infrastructure on multi-clouds.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on both popular open-source technologies (Prometheus, Grafana, Kubernetes) and proprietary solutions; contributing to the open-source community but also leveraging the best of what open source has to offer revenue-driving products.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • You’ll be responsible for delivering best in class Kubernetes observability solutions that are highly integrated into the Tanzu portfolio.

  • You will be building a highly functional and self-sufficient team of product managers.

  • You’ll launch Kubernetes observability products in alignment with the Tanzu family of products.

As a seasoned people and product manager, you’ll be bringing your unique experiences from your own soft skills with an emphasis on strong communication and presentation skills, to people management skills, product management best practices, product strategy, cross-team collaboration and negotiation skills. You’ll also mentor your peers, using both past and new experiences to help those around you learn and grow.


What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • You will be hiring and managing a distributed group of PMs, defining the group’s objectives and key results.

  • You’ll make sure individuals PMs are assigned with the right projects and set up for success.

  • You will be providing mentorship and guidance helping them be successful.

  • You will be collaborating with the rest of the product leaders across Tanzu to drive alignment on observability strategy, priorities, and needs in order to deliver a great user experience.

  • You’ll conduct customer and market analysis to help shape the product vision and strategy.

  • You will assure priorities are synced across the product line you manage and that teams are executing against those.

  • You will lead the product line through various stages from inception to launch to continuous improvement.

  • You will work closely with engineering, design, and information experience teams and drive end to end execution.

  • You’ll collaborate with customer field teams and go-to-market teams to provide product enablement.

  • You’ll create solutions that scale to meet the needs of the world’s biggest enterprises.
