Nature of Duties: The Groundskeeper is responsible for landscaping and/or maintenance of property using hand or power tools or equipment. Cares for established lawns, decorates gardens with stones and plants, disposes of trash and debris, hauls or spreads topsoil, spreads straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place, makes improvements to walks, lanes, sheds, and benches, including painting and minor repairs. Mixes and sprays or spreads fertilizer, herbicides or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders, operates large power lawn mowers, edger, hand tools, and large vehicles associated with ground maintenance and landscaping activities. Plants seeds, bulbs, foliage and applies mulch for protection, using gardening tools; prunes trees and shrubs, provides preventive maintenance pertaining to grounds areas, serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas. Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks, and entryways as required. Develops landscape plans, designs, drawings and specifications and follows planned designs to determine where to plant or lay sod. Assists in the maintenance of parking lots and other surfaces including asphalt repairs. Minimum Qualifications: Technical Competencies: Salary/Benefits: $12.50 per hour, benefits include paid state holidays, vacation, retirement, personal and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program. Hours: 7:00am – 5:30pm Monday – Thursday with rotating Fridays (1/2 Day), may change based on the needs of the college.
