Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Graphic Arts Assistant Performs a wide range of responsible clerical and technical duties by organizing graphic designs, layouts, and exhibits, standardizing graphics library and setting up filing system for graphics and photo archives. Assists in the creation of finisher medals, shirts, posters, posters, banners, decorative artwork, and other commonly used visual media. Performs a variety of administrative duties including e-mailing logos, photos and information to business contacts and assisting with the preparation of files and accompanying paperwork for submission to Contracting and/or third-party vendors. Tracks progress and status of graphics-based projects submitted through Contracting and ensures all specifications and deadlines are met. Assists with photography and videos for promotional purposes or as learning tools. Updates Marine Corps Marathon website to include: sponsor and charity logos, text revisions, current photos, press releases and the sizing of graphics and logos to fit web applications. May be required to travel to attend MCMO races, meetings and expos to promote races and events by attending other race expos to set up booths with MCMO race materials to promote MCMO race series by handing out MCMO materials, speaking to runners about MCMO races and events, and soliciting vendors to participate in races. Prepares for MCMO races and events by setting up cones, tents, start and finish lines and other race requirements. Observation of race practices by attending other races within the running industry and learning how they prepare, plan and execute races and upon return implement race practices and procedures at MCMO races. May be required to stand for extended periods of times at expos handing out materials and speaking with runners and vendors about MCMO races. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Must have valid driver’s license. Must have one year experience demonstrating knowledge of general clerical methods and techniques. Must have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to operate office machines, such as personal computers and calculators. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required. Experience in marketing/advertising and graphic design is preferred.
