What We Are Looking For NCU is seeking an experienced Grant identifier, writer and administrator to serve as our Grants Coordinator. Reporting to the Dean of Graduate School and working closely with the Provost, VPAA and five disciplinary Deans, this position will lead NCU to identify, apply and administer Grants in support of our University’s Mission.

Acting with minimum supervision, the Grants Coordinator is an independent problem solver, who takes initiative to resolve questions and move processes forward in identifying, applying and administering Grants. The Grants Coordinator will spearhead the Pre-Award process and will focus on the review, verification, and ensuring compliance with sponsor and university requirements.

This position will establish and implement submission procedures relating to grant and proposal development, guide and when need lead in the writing of grants and supervise in pre and post award administration.

Essential Functions

The chief objective of the position is to facilitate and coordinate-with university faculty and departments, and support staff- to successfully lead efforts to secure externally sponsored funding. Specific duties are as follows:

  • Create and maintain the official record for sponsored funds
  • Identify grant opportunities, internal and external SMEs and contributors, would act as primary project manager for all grant initiatives, coordinating deliverables and due dates for grant participants.
  • Manage the proposal routing process and hard copy file maintenance for all proposal submissions
  • Assist with general pre-award administration
  • Compile current and pending information (as required by sponsor) for Principal Investigator and senior/key personnel
  • Assist with post-award requests and modifications as needed.
  • Manage and maintain annual budget processes related to Grants initiatives.
  • Reasonable and consistent attendance to fulfill requirements of the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of grants and contracts;
  • Time management and organizational skills;
  • Ability to foster an environment that supports teamwork, collaboration; and high-quality customer service skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and other applications in the Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant administration in an academic environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of how to identify, propose and administer Grants.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal regulations and experience in managing compliance and interpreting and applying university and sponsor policies and procedures.
  • Experience with electronic grants administration and submission systems.
  • Knowledge of federal/university guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a high volume, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to motivate and train faculty on how to solicit Grants.
  • Strong analytical, computer and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in higher education preferred
  • Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred
  • All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a remote, home office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.
