Job Summary The Graduate Respiratory Therapist Level 1 (GRT) is a novice to advanced beginner level practitioner of respiratory care. The GRT at this level administers respiratory care modalities and performs routine care with guidance and or minimal supervision, following physician orders, established policies and procedures and the American Association of Respiratory Care Clinical Practices Guidelines. Job Responsibilities Practice: Performs delegated tasks for select number of patients and families.
- Performs ongoing systematic assessment.
- Implements concise and complete plan of care based on assessment and standards of practice.
- Demonstrates beginning skill competence in the delivery of respiratory care.

Job Responsibilities (Continued) Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations A valid license to practice respiratory care in the state of Pennsylvania. Current Basic Life Support certification issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross) Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) within six (6) months of placement into position. Required Education and Experience Required Education: Associate’s degree is required with a certificate of completion in respiratory care program.
According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing. Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Licenses/certificates/registrations: Successful completion of the Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) examination, administered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), within two years of date of hire. Additional Technical Requirements Informatics competencies for respiratory therapists: Computer Competency - Basic use of a computers (e.g. mouse, keyboard, printer, USB ports), fax machines

- Use of MS Outlook email, opening attachments, attaching files to emails, and saving attached files to computer.

Information Management Literacy - Navigation of electronic health records.
- Ability to locate and review specific patient data in clinical information systems and the electronic health record
- Understanding of policies and procedures around timeliness of care, use of a clinical information system, and support of safe practice. (e.g. use of clinical pathways.)
- Ability to collect clinical data using quality improvement tools (e.g. hand hygiene).
- Understanding confidentiality and privacy regulations when using a patient electronic health record.
- Coordination of patient care information in a patient care record that utilizes multiple systems.
