Position ProfileSentera is seeking a GIS Analyst II with a mix of technical skills, attention to detail, communication skills, and leadership. We're looking for someone to take technical ownership of a growing orchard analysis services business. In this role you will begin by performing our existing orchard analysis workflow, and quickly move into further automating it and managing the components of the workflow. You will represent Sentera alongside our business development team communicating directly with customers to define projects, provide status, and deliver results. You should have a passion for understanding customers, their business, and how we can support their needs.
Responsibilities- Use internal tools and workflows to automatically detect and analyze trees in orchard imagery.
- Inspect results and make edits to shapefiles using quality assurance workflows.
- Prepare processing results for customer delivery, including generation of maps and reports.
- Develop and manage offshore geospatial data processing and image annotation projects
- Interface to customers: confirm project requirements, provide project status, and deliver project results.
- Evaluate satellite imagery for orchard analysis
- Perform quality assurance (QA) cross-checks on data produced by other team members
- Process sets of images captured by drones to produce georeferenced mosaics (raster data) using stitching software.
- Perform a wide variety of tasks related to analyzing georeferenced imagery of orchards and farm fields with an emphasis on rasters, polygons, and points.
- Use internal tools, workflows, and models to process imagery of agricultural fields.
- Enhance existing models or build new models using QGIS Graphical Modeler or Arc Model Builder.
- Drive automation of manual orchard analysis workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in geography, environmental science, GIS or a related field.
- 1-5+ years of experience in GIS
- ArcGIS or QGIS
- Vector and raster data processing
- Strong work ethic and detail oriented
- Project Management mindset
- Customer facing / desire to work with customers
- Strong delegation skills
- Ability to work independently and on a team
Additional Details:
- FLSA and Job Status: Regular, Non-exempt, Full-Time (40 hours/week)
- Some weekend and evening shifts will be required to accommodate our farmer customers.
