Overview:

JOB SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for the preparation of monthly journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, assisting with month end and year end closing, preparation of labor analysis and other accounting support functions as assigned.

Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation and recording of monthly payroll journal entries.
  • Reconciliation of all payroll and fringe benefits related general accounts
  • Reconciliation of other balance sheet accounts as assigned
  • Review and analysis of all benefit invoices.
  • Reporting and reconciliation of all retirement plan deductions.
  • Review of all payroll tax reporting and payroll processing control reports
  • Assist with the preparation of budget to actual variance analysis reports
  • Assist with payroll documentation for the yearend audit
  • Assist with the preparation of documentation necessary for annual budget projections
  • Preparation of departmental Payroll FTE reporting.
  • Generate ADP Reports as needed by the Accounting Department.
  • Maintain and update monthly the Payroll & Employer Benefits Costs’ Database to generate Monthly Journal Entries for employer paid benefits and payroll reports for all departments.
  • Prepare and Maintain Monthly Payroll Pivot File to balance Department Payroll Reports.
  • Generate and Reconcile Monthly Self-Bill Invoices for Employee Benefits.
  • Prepare and Maintain Monthly Line Item FY Transaction Database for Departmental Reports.
  • Prepare Monthly Line Item Extract Report to send UL for All Funds Reporting.
  • Assist General Ledger Supervisor with month end and year end closing
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with all departments within ULP
  • Other accounting functions as assigned
Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance with two or more years of experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • In depth understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and Access preferred
  • Ability to organize work and complete tasks in an efficient manner
  • Prior experience using MAS200 or similar software applications
