Position DescriptionThe General Foreperson – Hourly provides hands-on leadership and is responsible for scheduling, planning, coordinating, and supervising tree crews. This position is also responsible for assisting in cost control, ensuring workplace safety, and consistent and fair application of all Company employment policies. The General Foreperson – Hourly is a first-line manager and key customer interface.Responsibilities:Duties IncludePosition Dimensions/Scope- Management Responsibility: $1.2 -$3 million Annual Revenue

Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities Essential Functions: - Human Resources and Supervision
- Interviews and hires employees in compliance with Company guidelines and procedures
- Supervises the activities of assigned employees, assesses competency and capability and takes appropriate action to deal with performance concerns
- Maintains positive employee relations with and between employees and takes proper disciplinary measures when required
- Stimulates maximum efficiency and productivity of employees
- Planning and Scheduling
- Reads and understands charts, work orders, schedules, customer contracts, drawings, and other records and reports to (a) plan and establish work schedules (including required overtime), assignments and sequences to meet goals, (b) arrange for notification and permission to complete work and (c) evaluate outputs
- Recommends adding and releasing of personnel as required to maintain the schedule
- Safety and Training
- Demonstrates equipment operations, work processes and safety procedures to new employees or assigns employees to experienced workers for training
- Identifies needs for employee training and ensures training is completed and up to date
- Maintains adherence to company safety policies, standards, and good housekeeping practices
- Ensures completion of safety and hazard assessments and establishes work zones and traffic control
- Conducts safety and other informational or educational meetings as required
- Participates in incident investigations and reviews
- Ensures timely responses, actions, and corrections to safety issues
- Supplies, Vehicles, and Equipment
- Inventories and obtains supplies, materials, and equipment in compliance with Company policies
- Inspects vehicles, machinery, equipment, and tools; communicates needed repairs and replacements to supervisor and corporate office
- Coordinates and ensures proper repairs are completed
- Quality Control
- Oversees execution of work by employees and ensures work meets specifications
- Communicates with serviced customers to ensure customer satisfaction
- Evaluates and attends to day to day customer errors, complaints and concerns and assures appropriate resolution
- Administration
- Keeps required records of employment matters and activities and regularly reports to supervisor on issues, progress or delays, and achievement
- Regularly monitors Company telephone and email and communicates/responds to supervisor and corporate office requests
- Transmits all required information and documentation to employees (including paychecks, memos, manuals, forms, training materials, etc.) promptly
- Submits all necessary documentation for the supervisor and corporate office (including new hire paperwork, timesheets, incident reports, training records, disciplinary and separation documentation, equipment reports, safety inspections, and audits, etc.) in a neat, accurate and timely manner
- Assists supervisor in the bidding process
Secondary Duties:- Reports to work outside of regular work hours for emergency operations
- May be assigned to perform the duties and functions of a direct supervisor or subordinate employees when that person is absent
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:What You'll Bring to the Team- Working knowledge of established industry hazards, standards, practices, procedures, and techniques (both manual and mechanical electrical line clearance methods, including pruning and climbing skills)
- Working knowledge of equipment and tools used in assigned processes
- Three (3) years of directly related experience; two (2) years of experience in a Group Leader/Supervisory role
- Valid Driver’s License in State of residence
- Qualified to obtain and maintain DOT Medical Certification
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements of the position
- Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations
- Be at least 18 years of age, or 21 if CDL is required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred: - Commercial Driver’s License (Class B minimum)
- Herbicide Applicator’s License in one or more States
- Conversational knowledge of the Spanish language
