JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Gardner develops and maintains the dealership grounds by following an established care program. He or she is responsible for a variety of duties that include planning, planting, watering, weeding, and developing a garden environment around the dealership facilities. While the position is very hands on, it may require some activities to be contracted (irrigation, mowing, tree planting, etc.).

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED (with further coursework preferred) and experience in garden design and maintenance. He or she must be a team player who can work in a challenging environment, must be physically able to perform the duties of the job (move equipment/machinery, climb ladders, perform repetitive motions, walk/stand, etc.), and be able to work a flexible, seasonal schedule. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help in the design and layout of planting areas
  • Continually improve the gardens
  • Ensures that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored
  • Insure watering systems are operational and effective
  • Maintain the planting beds through weeding and weed suppression
  • Completes any reports or logs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED required; some post high school education or training preferred
  • Three years of progressive and relevant experience
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with co-workers, vendors, and others
  • Able to work independently on projects and as a member of a team
