Full Time Staff Accountant
SAL Management Group is one of the top senior assisted living providers in Utah. We have also grown into Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Oklahoma. We operate 25+ assisted living facilities and two homecare and hospice companies. Our corporate accounting office is located in Logan, Utah. At this time we are seeking a full-time Accountant to join our team!
The staff accountant is responsible for carrying out many of the organizations accounting functions, which include but are not limited to monthly Medicaid billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, journal entries, month end preparation, budgets, reconciliations and other duties and projects as assigned. This position will help and oversee various aspects of accounting for 25+ assisted living facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly journal entries
- Process accounts payable for various assisted living facilities
- Assist with journal entry uploads for payroll
- Detailed preparation of community level income statements and balance sheets
- Assist in weekly and month-end processes for closing the books
- Ensure financials are maintained in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Reconcile Medicaid billings for residents across multiple assisted living facilities throughout multiple states
- Work directly with state Medicaid payers and case workers to timely reconcile resident accounts and collect payment for monthly and past due amounts owed
- Resolve billing discrepancies & update and maintain resident balances on a continual basis
- Assist in development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve accounts receivable collection
- Assist in year-end financial preparation for tax returns including 1099’s
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School diploma or GED required – other training or education highly desired
- 1-3 years accounting experience or related education.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail, organized and able to handle multiple deliverables at one time
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting a strong plus
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Excel
- Accounting software knowledge a plus
- Self-starter who works well under pressure
- Attentive to detail
- Ability to work well as a team is must
- Prior experience with billing Medicaid a strong plus, but not required – willing to train
