Fraud Analyst Contract to Hire Details

The Fraud Analyst will assist with various efforts to protect the assets of Floor & Decor by identifying and addressing potential losses proactively, carrying out audit processes related to various transaction tenders, responding quickly and appropriately to chargebacks and other potential losses, assisting stores in ongoing loss prevention efforts, and assisting with other Sales Audit tasks as needed. The Fraud Analyst will work alongside Sales Audit, Operations, IT, and Safety & Asset Protection to ensure all efforts are made to mitigate bad debt loss.

The scope of this role includes carrying out effective and efficient processes and audits in order to identify, respond to, and limit potential losses.The Fraud Analyst will also assist members of the Sales Audit team in various projects and tasks, as assigned. Other duties and projects may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance and understanding of basic accounting and balancing procedures
  • Sense of ownership, urgency, and diligence towards the prevention and collection bad debt
  • Strong analytical skills and the desire to identify areas of opportunity
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the company
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively while remaining tactful and courteous
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate level in Excel)
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter with strong desire to succeed
  • Must pass pre-employment background check

Essential Functions

  • Create and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly reports measuring accuracy of sales transactions, potential and actual bad debt, and other store performance metrics
  • Use reports and analytics to identify patterns which may indicate areas of opportunity for the company or may require further investigation:
  • Identify high-risk activities & processes and work with the Fraud Control Supervisor to eliminate or mitigate these
  • Identify associate/transaction/customer patterns that require additional research
  • Actively work all open chargebacks and other disputes including escalation to the Operations team, as necessary, and provide first response to all chargeback requests within 24-hours of receipt
  • Work with stores to resolve all significant variances from daily variance logs
  • Manage daily processes related to returned checks, including entering claims, reconciling payments, and tracking aged claims
  • Review high-risk transactions as needed to prevent potential losses in both retail and eCommerce environments, including the use of fraud detection software
  • Assist in the development of training and educational materials regarding fraud prevention as needed
  • Assist with other Sales Audit tasks and projects as needed

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
