Our work depends on a Statistical Model Manager joining our team to support our customer, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in Baltimore, Maryland.

GDIT is under contract to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to design, develop, engineer, implement, enhance, and maintain statistical algorithms to detect and prevent potential fraud, waste or abuse in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The contract is part of the Fraud Prevention System (FPS) Modeling and Analytics contract. GDIT are responsible for post-payment (models) and pre-payment (edits) identification and implementation to support this CMS’ Center for Program Integrity (CPI) initiative.

As a Statistical Model Manager supporting our customer (CMS/CPI), you will be trusted to work on specific technology and data science tools to detect and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) across the Medicare and Medicaid programs. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Lead a team of analysts, programmers, statisticians, and healthcare experts in designing advanced algorithms to detect fraud, waste or abuse in the Medicare and Medicaid programs
  • Develop and present innovative solutions to effectively target healthcare vulnerabilities and prevent inappropriate payments.
  • Implement open-ended data merges, data analysis plans, and perform complex data manipulation and reporting tasks
  • Develop, write, and present detailed technical solutions to solve open-ended business problems to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Interact with your team, other members of management, and the customer
  • Gather and organize information for use in supporting decision-making process
  • Collect, manipulate, analyze, evaluate, and display data using visualization tools
  • Perform data analysis and create data summaries using descriptive statistics


WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Masters degree with 8+ years related experience, or Bachelors degree with 10+ years related experience. A concentration in statistics, data science, and/or data mining tools is preferred.
    • Mastery of statistical and mathematical modeling, analysis, data mining and machine learning using SAS, R, and/or Python
    • Mastery using SQL for modeling and data manipulation purposes
    • 3+ years of leading teams and developing innovative solutions
    • Proven ability in developing and presenting solutions to complex, open-ended problems
    • Experience using statistical algorithms, techniques, and models to define data for data integrity and process analytics
    • Proven ability in proactively identifying and working collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve data anomalies, data quality, and compliance issues in administrative data
    • Superior experience with customer service skills working proactively and collaboratively with Federal research, compliance, and policy staff/stakeholders to implement and enhance internal and external management reports and public-facing data analysis tools and datasets
    • Experience supporting data governance policies and supporting infrastructures spanning diverse stakeholders
    • Experience using manipulating and presenting data using MS tools including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Desired Qualifications:
    • Experience conducting healthcare studies and implementing business intelligence tools/solutions in collaboration with Federal customers and stakeholders
    • Knowledge of business intelligence, ETL, data analytics, and data warehouse COTS solution space
    • Experience working with and supporting a commercial/production software solution that is live 24/7.
    • Experience using data visualization tools such as including Tableau
    • Experience conducting health care related research and analytics
    • Superior written and verbal skills. Must write succinctly and clearly and explain complex situations in plain English to technical and non-technical audiences
    • Superior multi-tasking and organization skills. Must manage multiple simultaneous projects and prioritize assignments and tasks, accordingly, remaining flexible to changing priorities and new initiatives

The likely salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
