General Scope of Responsibilities-support of the educational program as directed and supervised by the regular and/or special education teacher
Reports to-Building principal
Supervises – N/A
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist regular and/or special education teacher to promote success with delivery of daily lessons and activities
- Assist in delivery of IEP goals, SDI, behavior plan, health care plan if appropriate
- Assist individual students with independent study projects, makeup work, homework completion
- Reinforce and provide practice for students in academic instruction developed by the regular and/or special education teacher
- Assist with data collection of academic skills
- Provide tutoring developed by the regular and/or special education teacher when necessary
- Assist in the management of student behavior:
- Observation and data collection of behavior
- Implementation of positive behavior supports as directed by the regular or special education teacher and/or behavior analyst
- Assist in scoring student tests, checking student workbooks, homework and written exercises
- Assist in production and processing of classroom materials and projects
- Assist in monitoring students during filed trips, community based instruction, assemblies or testing situations
- Monitor classroom, lunch periods, study periods and bus loading as assigned
Required Qualifications and Experience
- 2 years postsecondary study (48 college credits) OR Associate Degree or higher OR be “qualified by exam” through State Credentialing; teaching certification preferred
- Qualification as instructional paraprofessional per Pennsylvania Department of Education for special education assignments
- Complete and provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to assignment each year of employment
- Ability to relate to children in instructional settings
- Ability to work with students who use various instructional aides, wheelchairs or other types of physical assistance
- Ability to related to staff in a positive manner
Physical Demands
- Ability to travel to various school district buildings
- Ability to work in classroom and school environment for extended periods of time including, but not limited to, sitting, standing lifting, bending and reaching
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate verbally
- Ability to take direction and work well with others
- Ability to appear for work and complete assigned tasks within a reasonable period of time

Term of Employment- 10 months. Schedule to be determined based on the school calendar. THERE ARE NO MEDICAL BENEFITS WITH THIS POSITION.
ALL EMPLOYMENT IS PROVISIONAL FOR 90 DAYS AS REQUIRED BY ACT 168 OF 2014, ENACTED DECEMBER 22, 2014. MUST SUBMIT ACT 168 FORM TO ALL CURRENT AND FORMER EMPLOYERS WHERE YOU HAVE HAD DIRECT CONTACT WITH CHILDREN.
