Shift: Monday through Friday from 1:00pm to 9:30pm

Job Summary: Reviews ingredients contents list and specific batch instruction to ensure accuracy and consistency, before production process. Operates food processing equipment, including but not limited to mixers, sieves and steam kettles adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Essential Functions:

  • Operates ALL site food processing equipment, including but not limited to mixers, sieves and steam kettles.
  • Packages finished product.
  • Tests and records in process verification checks of finished products as necessary.
  • Completes daily documentation of batches with comprehensive understanding of the data and its impact to the operation
  • Operates within all standard operating procedures.
  • Cleans and maintains work area.
  • Operates forklifts and other heavy equipment.
  • Adhere to proper Good Manufacturing Practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Level 1

  • One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Legible hand writing
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to assemble at least one line for all pack styles
  • Ability to shuttle waste and recycling out of the facility in an efficient manner, before overflowing
  • Ability to fill out a WO accurately and neatly
  • Ability to train new production assistants on basic procedures
  • Shows potential to develop into a cook role
  • Ability to operate forklift and/or certified to operate forklift.

Level 2

  • In proficient in all level 1 competencies
  • Demonstrated experience as a cook
  • Shows competency to cook on the aseptic line from start to finish
  • Shows competency to fully operate CIP and SIP
  • Ability to enter set points for recipes on the aseptic PLC
  • Understands how to maintain aseptic conditions, and the importance of food safety
  • Ability to perform a complete shut-down of the line, and start up after a down period
  • Shows initiative to recognize basic issues, troubleshoot, provides solutions to overcome them and informs supervision in a timely manner
  • Ability to efficiently operate the aseptic line to maximize throughput, consistently over a long period of time

Working Conditions/Physical Factors:

  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour
  • Worker may be exposed to a loud working environment.
  • Worker may be exposed to hazards in the work place such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical current
  • Must be able to work in environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.)
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasionally required to use hands and fingers
  • Frequently required to talk or hear
  • Frequently required to taste and smell
  • Frequently required to lift/push/pull/carry weight up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts
  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles
