Job Description
  • Operate forging equipment, ensuring product meets specifications while minimizing scrap/rework costs.
  • Communicate effectively with support departments to ensure resources are readily available to support production schedule.
  • Continually monitor manufacturing methods, processes and procedures.
  • Work with team to determine and implement necessary changes.
  • Assist with routine administrative tasks to ensure team goals are supported, monitored and attained.
  • Monitor established safety procedures.
  • Respond to changes in the production schedule to ensure customer and departmental requirements are met.

Qualifications
  • High school or GED required.
  • 6+ months experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Good communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Blueprint reading.
  • Ability to train on day shift for 3-6 months
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Exposure to inspection and measuring equipment (e.g. gauges, calipers, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret process routings and procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs on production equipment as needed for safe operation.
  • Problem solving skills - ability to identify design flaws and inconsistencies in the product.
  • Ability to meet demands of an ever-changing production schedule.
  • Must be within a commutable distance to facility. Relocation support not offered.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without VISA sponsorship.
  • Not eligible for internal VA/VN international assignment.

Additional Information

Machine Operator Forge: PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to obtain and retain forklift certification.
  • Geometric Dimension and Tolerance.
  • Basic understanding of Short Cycle Manufacturing and Just in Time.
  • Set up, operate and perform routine maintenance on forging related equipment, such as hammers, presses and furnaces.
  • Prior experience in set-up and operation of forging equipment preferred.
  • Familiarity with temperature principles as they relate to steel properties

Machine Operator Forge: PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Excessive exposure to heat, noise and vibration
  • Bending- Waist level
  • Stooping- 50 - 80%
  • Twisting- 20 degrees
  • Turning- 90 degrees
  • Reaching- Below to above shoulder level
  • Lifting- Up to 33 lbs. frequently through the day
  • Standing- 50 - 100% of time
  • Walking- 50% - 100% of time
