Job Description
- Operate forging equipment, ensuring product meets specifications while minimizing scrap/rework costs.
- Communicate effectively with support departments to ensure resources are readily available to support production schedule.
- Continually monitor manufacturing methods, processes and procedures.
- Work with team to determine and implement necessary changes.
- Assist with routine administrative tasks to ensure team goals are supported, monitored and attained.
- Monitor established safety procedures.
- Respond to changes in the production schedule to ensure customer and departmental requirements are met.
Qualifications
- High school or GED required.
- 6+ months experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Basic math skills.
- Good communication skills - written and verbal.
- Blueprint reading.
- Ability to train on day shift for 3-6 months
- Basic computer skills.
- Exposure to inspection and measuring equipment (e.g. gauges, calipers, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret process routings and procedures.
- Ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs on production equipment as needed for safe operation.
- Problem solving skills - ability to identify design flaws and inconsistencies in the product.
- Ability to meet demands of an ever-changing production schedule.
- Must be within a commutable distance to facility. Relocation support not offered.
- Must be eligible to work in the US without VISA sponsorship.
- Not eligible for internal VA/VN international assignment.
Additional Information
Machine Operator Forge: PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Ability to obtain and retain forklift certification.
- Geometric Dimension and Tolerance.
- Basic understanding of Short Cycle Manufacturing and Just in Time.
- Set up, operate and perform routine maintenance on forging related equipment, such as hammers, presses and furnaces.
- Prior experience in set-up and operation of forging equipment preferred.
- Familiarity with temperature principles as they relate to steel properties
Machine Operator Forge: PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Excessive exposure to heat, noise and vibration
- Bending- Waist level
- Stooping- 50 - 80%
- Twisting- 20 degrees
- Turning- 90 degrees
- Reaching- Below to above shoulder level
- Lifting- Up to 33 lbs. frequently through the day
- Standing- 50 - 100% of time
- Walking- 50% - 100% of time
