Job Summary
Provides oversight, consultation, research, management, and education in relation to Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program. Serves as a patient advocate, liaison, and advisor/educator to assist patients with the continuum of care from detection of assault through acute care treatment.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as an expert consultant for team members in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional growth.
- Develops, plans, implements, and evaluates educational programs and utilizes methods, measurements, and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals.
- Maintains awareness of current trends, practice changes, and research findings related to program.
- Collaborates to define program benchmarks and goals, collects data, and drives process improvement as indicated.
- Coordinates activities and projects to meet organizational and regulatory requirements; monitors local, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitors progress toward goals and coordinates and facilitates regular meetings to review goals and outcomes.
- Provides support, counseling, and expert guidance to patients and families to promote their ability to understand and meaningfully participate in the healthcare process and personal decision-making.
- Rounds on and serves as a liaison between patient, clinical staff, physicians, and the community to maximize resources and resolve barriers to the plan of care.
- Evaluates patient progress toward the plan of care post-discharge.
- Provides care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Ensures adequate SANE nurses available to support the healthcare system by providing scheduling, training, and education.
- Coordinates regional training courses, community education, marketing and events in accordance with system policies and procedures.
- Maintains chain of custody for all evidence collection.
- Performs job duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing required upon hire
- A minimum of 3 years' relevant experience required
- RN - Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire AND
- KY SANE - Kentucky Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) credential from Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) required upon hire AND
- SANE-A - Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner-Adult/Adolescent certification from International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) required within 6 months of employment in this position AND
- SANE-P - Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner-Pediatric from International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) required within 12 months of employment in this position
