POSITION SUMMARY

The Fleet Maintenance Manager oversees preventative maintenance and repairs of fleet equipment, implements monitoring maintenance policies and procedures and works with vendors to ensure all repairs are performed in compliance with all company, federal and state regulations. This position will be responsible for ensuring equipment is safe and functional, meeting all DOT required regulations, licenses and permits. Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage scheduling and prioritize repairs.
  • Establish a protocol for capturing all work order repair costs.
  • Manage vehicle accidents and reports in tandem with Safety and HR personnel to monitor risk and decrease vehicle insurance liabilities.
  • Determine life span of Fleet and equipment assets at end of use, replacement timing and Capex.
  • Lead the annual equipment audit with inputs from Operations.
  • Execute planned purchases and review unplanned requests for equipment, repairs and Fleet acquisition; analyze methods to cut costs.
  • Develop a Fleet retirement equipment list for preliminary budget annually.
  • Oversee overall spending of Fleet maintenance operations, related purchases, and approval of P.O.s for parts and repairs.
  • Oversee the relationships with vendors and suppliers that provide parts and services for Fleet and Equipment in order to negotiate pricing.
  • Manage fuel supply and approve spending to include fuel cards
  • knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance and ensure compliance to DOT requirements and regulations.
  • Identify and monitor equipment sent to outside sources for repairs.
  • Follow the schedule of preventive maintenance and annual inspections
  • Analyze the fleet and make suggestions for improvements or purchases
  • Assume responsibility for the approval and payment of any repairs on the company’s equipment that must be performed by vendors
  • Establish various management tools to improve cost management
  • Work with parts and repairs vendors to ensure timely service
  • Close service and repair orders in a timely manner
  • Coordinate roadside breakdown repairs; status updates and contact vendors
  • Ensure mandated inspections (PM’s/Annuals) are completed in a timely manner
  • Process and distribute daily and weekly metrics and develop performance reports
  • Establish a protocol for capturing all work order repair costs, as well as proficiency.
  • Collaborate with management to understand the fleet age and forecast future needs and investments.
  • Market and resell company vehicles when no longer useful or at the end of their Lifecycle.
  • Ensure registration and permit and licenses on all vehicles and keeping Compliance inspections up to date.
  • Maintain general knowledge of mechanical, electrical, structural and operation function of all fleet equipment.

  • Bachelor degree in logistics or business
  • 4-5 Years of experience in transportation fleet management
