Position Summary

The UNM Cashier/Bursar's Office has a unique opportunity for the chosen applicant(s) to act in a hybrid capacity and seamlessly transition between both the Cashier's Department and Bursar's Office. When guided by management, the Fiscal Services Tech(s) will perform multiple functions to create a well-rounded customer experience.

Individual(s) selected for this position will be responsible for the processing of high-volume cash item transactions, as well as performing service support for customers and handling service requests through resolution. Fiscal Services Tech(s) will also be responsible for various clerical and routine accounting tasks in support of an operating unit, to include posting entries, verifying and reconciling input to UNM's general ledger, processing payments, and/or assisting in preparation of billings and other financial reports; responding to inquiries and contacts other departments and/or vendors to resolve a variety of problems, and will assist in the performance of account review/analysis for customers of the Bursar's Office.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with efficiency and accuracy
  • Performs a variety of cash management and reconciliation roles
  • Ability to utilize and interpret information from various websites and ERP systems
  • Ability to understand and apply University policies, procedure and Federal/State regulations
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data on individual accounts
  • Strong organizational and follow up skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
