Job Description
This position is responsible for managing the Accounts Payable (AP), Payroll and Sales and Use Tax teams within USG’s Shared Service organization. This position is also accountable for managing the third-party relationships that are part of USG’s AP, Payroll and Sales and Use Tax processes including, but not limited to, Genpact, Ceridian and Tungsten. This position is responsible for leading process improvement in AP, Payroll and Sales and Use Tax resulting in improved efficiency and effectiveness year over year.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for managing a team of 3 direct reports and a total team size of 10 employees and 20 third-party remote resources that are responsible for the timely and accurate payment of supplier invoices and employee payroll for USG and CGC.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal FSS business partners and external suppliers related to the Payroll, AP and Sales and Use Tax process for USG and CGC; demonstrate a solid understanding of the business and how the FSS services enable and impact their business priorities.
- Ensure all team members interact and conduct business with our external customers with a high degree of professionalism and customer service.
- Process Control and Improvement: Utilize lean six sigma tools and techniques to drive efficiency and effectiveness improvement in the AP, Payroll and Sales and Use Tax processes and reduce the cost of executing and managing the processes year over year. Lead improvement projects comprised of team members from operations, HR, Sourcing, IT, Finance and third-party solution providers. Create an environment that promotes continuous improvement and transparency at all levels; Identify and implement activities to promote best practices/standards. Ensure appropriate controls exist and are regularly audited and evaluated regarding the payment of invoices and employee payroll.
- Supplier Management: Utilize in-depth understanding of contractual agreements with third-party suppliers and banks required to effectively execute the AP, Payroll and Sales and Use Tax processes. Effectively manage these suppliers to deliver services at committed levels.
- Leadership, Communication, and Teamwork: Promote effective communication with service providers, internal USG teams and external suppliers; Actively engage in problems/conflict resolution, coaching, counseling, training and development; Mentor process managers in other functional areas.
- This position may travel to India 1-2 times per year.
Qualifications
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required; Finance or Accounting concentration preferred.
Years of Experience
- Must have at least 7 years experience in finance and accounting positions including 2-3 years accounts payable and/or payroll experience, proficient knowledge of accounting principles, and standard processes and controls.
Required Skills
- Must have at least 3 years experience successfully leading a team of at least 3-5 people. Experience working across USG business units preferred. Experience managing third-party or remote teams preferred.
- Knowledge of USG internal controls and financial compliance requirements. 1-2 years experience driving continuous process improvement using lean tools.
- The successful candidate demonstrates exceptional leadership, process improvement, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
