Job summary
AWS Finance is seeking a highly quantitative, world class Finance Manager to lead the delivery of business insights for AWS Senior and Executive leaders. This role will engage with Senior leadership, and cross functional business and technical teams to drive results. This role requires a self-starter with strong problem solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations. This position will lead a team of analysts responsible for providing revenue insights, and work with business, Sales, Service Finance, Accounting and Data/ BI Engineering leaders across AWS to dive deep and develop a crisp understanding of all AWS revenue components, trends, telemetry, customer analytics, and other drivers impacting revenue. This person will be the primary owner of daily and weekly revenue reviews provided to executive leadership and drive BI projects to automate and support processes. The ideal candidate should know and love working with business intelligence tools, be analytical and creative, and be comfortable working in a fast paced, ambiguous environment. The candidate should be passionate about working with data and using their findings to guide the broader organization. This is a critical role with high visibility to executive and senior leadership, and is a great opportunity for those willing to roll up their sleeves to achieve results.

Key job responsibilities
  • Subject matter expertise on, and own the delivery of daily and weekly business review insights for senior leadership within AWS.
  • Partner with stakeholders across multiple teams in business, finance, accounting, and business intelligence to understand key business drivers.
  • Deliver written documentation/communication of current revenue drivers and trends.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple AWS business teams, and lead teams to define and deliver automated solutions.
  • Foster constructive communication across multiple teams to drive standardization and information socialization.
  • Build processes and controls as the business grows.
  • Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration, and commitment across multiple groups with competing priorities.
  • MBA or MS in Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field of study.
  • Strong capabilities for developing and presenting analyses and insights to senior management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, SQL, and other analytical or BI tools.
  • Advanced analytical skills; an ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment; work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations.
  • Experience with cube engine tools (e.g. TM1, Cognos or Essbase).
  • Understanding of Accounting standards.
  • An ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload.
  • Knowledge of computing industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills — including written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage complex financial models for business forecasting, variance analysis, and problem solving.
  • Experience in a technology company or high-tech environment.
