Fiber Splicer

Description:JOB SUMMARY:
The Fiber Splicer will fix and splice our fiber lines. We need these employees to be skilled in fusion splicing; terminate; and test fiber.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Terminate, splice and test with various different fiber tools.
- Work as an organized team to meet deadlines.
- Read maps and blueprints.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Good customer service skills.
- Able to travel and stay overnight.
- A valid driver's license with a respectable driving record.
- Pass industry standard background check, drug test, physical and strength test.
- Work with a 65-pound ladder (unload, carry, setup and climb).
- Squat, kneel, crawl, work in tight spaces and climb multiple flights of stairs.
- Use hand tools.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work 50 - 60 hours per week.
. Requirements:PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
- Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- At least 2 years of Fiber splicing and testing experience.
- Power Limited Technician License is preferred.
- Handle various tasks simultaneously, organize, prioritize, make decisions and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines required
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Learn quickly and apply that knowledge
- Adaptability and being able to work individually and in a team environment
- Willingness to travel
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR screen
- Ability to pass background and drug screen
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work in confined space, poorly ventilated areas such as attics during extreme heat
- Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, cleaning solutions
- Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night
- Work performed near power lines and electricity
- Work and travel in inclement weather
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Safely use weight-bearing equipment (safety harness and ladders) without the maximum weight limitations of the equipment
- Accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices
- Carry, climb and operate extension ladder, (approximately 28 feet high and 75 pounds)
- Differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
- Make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twisting
- Operate appropriate computer or test equipment associated with position
- Perform job from high places (i.e. poles and roofs)
- Use the following hand tools: electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers in the installation of cable to the residence and TV set converters
- Walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, including ladders, and fully loaded tool belts
- Work while standing 50 to 70% of the time
- Work with small components and wire to make cable connections
