Weekes Forest Products is seeking a Facility Operations Manager to join our team in (Milwaukee) Jackson, WI.

Facility Operations Manager Job Duties:

General & Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, production, and physical conditions of yard.

· Optimize productivity and operations cost of processing transactions in the warehouse, yard and remanufacturing plant.

· Determine optimal storage location and handling method for all products.

· Oversee repair and maintenance of buildings and facility grounds.

· Assure adequate yard supplies.

· Work with Division Manager on any facility and operational enhancements.

· Directs the implementation of safe operating practices in compliance with Company and regulatory policies (DOT regulations, forklift operations, OSHA compliance, etc.).

· Work in yard as needed.

· Maintain all equipment in proper condition.

· Manage delivery and logistical services.

· Maintain good relations with delivery providers.

· Evaluate cost savings of operating our own delivery vehicles.

  • Complete all paperwork and analysis in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Manage budgeting (cost containment /inventory control /scheduling).

Safety

· Maintain a clean and safe operation at the facility.

  • Manage safety of employees through leading by example, operate at the highest standards and conform to all regulations.
  • Provide safety training to production teammates that will detail how to work injury and incident free.

Oversee Employees

· Maintain desired number of personnel as determined by Division Manager, by attracting, hiring, training, supervising, coaching, supporting, and scheduling the following positions:

o Forklift Operators/Material Handlers

o Remanufacturing Plant Personnel

o Dispatch/Customer Service

  • Conduct regular performance reviews.

· Assure compliance with company policies.

  • Train team members to monitor product quality, proper handling, storage of products and contribute to the overall direction and success of the operations.
  • Resolve problems relating to process, cost, orders, maintenance, inventory control, equipment/trucks, services, and systems that affect the division’s ability to meet or exceed customer needs.
  • Supervise/coordinate production efforts that result in continuous improvement in all areas.

· Train personnel in optimum product handling and equipment operation.

· Assure efficient and accurate processing of order paperwork through operations cycle.

· Instill a “can-do” attitude in operations staff to offer an excellent response time on orders, good customer service and a cooperative attitude with sales team.

  • Facilitate team development and communication, employee skill development, problem-solving and resolution, and build employee commitment and ownership.

· Review team member performance on a regular basis by compiling operational reports that measure on-time deliveries, back orders, hours worked, shipments received, etc. to ensure minimum costs, prevent operational delays and to forecast both short and long-term planning needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Supervisory experience in a manufacturing, industrial or military environment.
  • Must be capable of working safely and continuously promoting safe work practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Detail and results oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or higher
  • 5 or more year of supervisory or management experience in an industrial, manufacturing or military environment
  • Demonstrate a level of understanding of lumber grades and products.
  • Continuous Improvement certifications
