Extended Day Care Assistant

Title: Extended Day Care Assistant Reports to: Principal/EDC Director Job Goal: Under general supervision of the Extended Day Care Director, assist in the supervision, management, safety and well-being of students during after-school program. Hours are 3:30pm-6:00pm___________________________________________________________________________________ Performance Responsibilities:- Assist in planning and implementing daily program
- Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment and in preparing needed materials and supplies
- Helps with general housekeeping tasks, including the serving of snacks and sanitizing the tables
- Maintain professional attitude and loyalty to day care center
- Treat all children with dignity and respect.
- Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs
- Participate in annual 16 hours of professional development that work for the improvement of early childhood and primary education
- Oversee and supervise children in small groups
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Knowledge of:
- HFRS EDC policies and procedures.
- Health regulations, plus provide documentation of being tuberculosis-free within one year of hire; Safe working methods and procedures, including Blood borne Pathogens.
- Be certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid as required by the state of Michigan annually
- Proper lifting techniques.
- State and District policies, rules, and regulations.
Ability to:
- Work well with children of all elementary ages.
- Understand, implement, and give oral and written directions in English.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, staff members, and Director.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Work with groups and individuals in basic instruction.
- The ability to successfully complete a criminal history, background check and have central registry clearance. Documentation that an individual will be a ‘Mandated Reporter. ‘
- Professional bearing and clean and neat personal appearance
- Must have strong commitment to Catholic education and model behavior in accordance with Holy Family Regional School mission and philosophy.
- Understand and abide by the Archdiocese of Detroit contract for employment and the specifications it contains regarding the expectations of a Catholic school employee.
