Executive Coordinator

The Executive Coordinator provides complex administrative support to the Executive Manager and Executive Director in a highly visible key position. The main focus of this position is to act as a resource in reviewing chapter constitutions, developing and implementing policy or operating procedures, assisting with the administration of policy, , and preparing materials for our annual Conference.

The Executive Coordinator reports to the Executive Manager and works closely with senior management and Association officers.

CSEA is a public employee union that represents more than 250,000 classified school employees who work in 750 school districts and community colleges in California.

CSEA is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors. The Association’s governing documents include the Constitution, Bylaws, Policy and Chapter Constitutions. The Association is made up of 780 chapters that are guided by individual chapter constitutions and the Association’s governing documents.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Typical duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Reviews Chapter Constitutions to ensure they comply with CSEA’s governing documents
  • Prepares materials to assist chapters in revising constitutions
  • Recommends or approves changes
  • Identifies potential problem areas
  • Prepares Conference resolutions, procedures, and special rules
  • Prepares program scripts for the Association President
  • Writes Policy Bulletins
  • Monitors chapter audits performed by the Association
  • Receives and reviews documentation in the process of assisting with administering Association Policies
  • This includes but is not limited to member disciplinary matters under Policy 613, and member election objections under Policy 618
  • Administers chapter online balloting and relevant software
  • Serves as a resource for staff and members on Chapter Constitutions, Chapter audits, and Policy procedures
  • Assists the Executive Manager in coordinating member committees
  • Coordinates programs to recognize member service
  • Meets or coordinates requests for special projects from other departments
  • May assist the Board of Directors with special projects assigned by the Executive Manager
  • Analyzes and reports on issues and policies relevant to the Association and its procedures, programs and services
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Executive Manager

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION - Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Knowledge of:

  • Association structure, policies, practices and procedures including State and Chapter Constitution and Bylaws
  • Union political activities, union operations and corporate responsibilities
  • Parliamentary procedures
  • Employment and labor law
  • Financial reports, accounting and budgeting
  • Project management
  • MS 365

Education:

  • BS degree in appropriate or related field
Experience:
  • 4 years’ relevant experience
