Evening Shift Custodian currently open for the District. 8.0 hours per day, 258 days per year (pro rated for start date) and includes benefits. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and pass pre-employment testing. Location to be determined.
Salary range 5: $13.64 - $16.64 based on education and experience
If already employed for the district and are transferred from a different range, maximum salary placement will be mid point on salary schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification of good health.
Physically able to perform custodial duties.
Ability to communicate effectively with other school personnel
REPORTS TO: Head Janitor / Director of Operations
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Keep premises of district buildings in a clean and orderly condition. Maintain all certifications and training levels as may be required and assigned by Director of Operations. Secure building for safety and security. Strength requirement (m) as defined by (DOT) Directory of Occupational Titles. General Educational Development ratings of reasoning - 3, math - 2, and language - 3 as defined by the Directory of Occupational Titles. Perform all duties as may be assigned in an effective manner by the Director of Operations. May direct a driver/helper if assigned to do so by Director of Nutrition Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Close school daily - when closing, check all doors for deficiencies and report to maintenance.
o Check building for security and turn off all lights except security lights prior to locking up at the end of the school day or at special activities.
o Police outside around building nightly at the end of shift to make sure building is secure.
o Clean all areas assigned to you.
o Assist in snow and ice removal as needed.
o Any improper operation or damage of building and/or machinery therein.
o Make minor maintenance repairs as capable of and assist in emergency situations.
o Resourcefulness and flexibility
§ Changing job task (gang cleaning - summer maintenance)
§ Part of district moving crew - equipment, etc.
§ Coordination of on-site vendors
§ Proper interaction with students when job description requires
o Open and close building as required
o Clean any areas as needed
o Coordination of events; set-up/tear down
o Working events: on site or on call
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
At will employee. Work year and salary to be established by the Board of Education. Shall receive the benefits of sick leave, retirement and the usual policies which apply to classified personnel. Vacation time established by Board policies.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policies which apply to classified personnel.
