Team Profile


Verisk Maplecroft is a trusted advisor to clients from a range of sectors, including natural resources, financial services and consumer goods. Our experienced international consulting practice is structured to provide clients with advice that is based on real substance and which often leverages our unrivalled risk datasets covering over 150 issues and 198 countries globally. Within our consulting practice, our well-established ESG team has been at the forefront of the ongoing evolution of ESG strategy, management and reporting for over 15 years.


Role description


As a key member of Consulting, you will work on collaborative teams to help deliver a range of projects for global clients, including sustainability reporting and integrated annual reporting, ESG portfolio and supply chain risk assessment, and ESG strategy development. You will also have opportunities to contribute to projects focused on human rights, climate change and geopolitical issues. We anticipate that you will spend approximately half of your time on sustainability reporting projects and other ESG-related projects.


As a Managing Consultant you will take responsibility for the planning, implementation and delivery of workstreams on large projects as well as management of smaller engagements. You will work closely with client teams, building strong relationships characterized by high levels of trust.


Specific to sustainability reporting projects, your responsibilities are likely to include:

  • developing reporting concepts, structure, key messaging and overall content for reports
  • developing and delivering materiality assessments to inform report content
  • engaging with client reporting teams
  • managing budgets, schedules and resources
  • Collating, calculating and analyzing client ESG data
  • Conducting interviews with internal and external stakeholders


New business development will also be a component of the role, including the identification and generation of new opportunities, the development of new opportunities in partnership with our sales & marketing team, and the drafting of engaging thought leadership pieces.


The role will also very likely involve a degree of domestic and international travel for short periods of time (i.e. days rather than weeks).


Qualifications

Key knowledge and experience


  • At least five years of relevant professional experience, ideally encompassing consulting and/or client-side ESG experience
  • Excellent communications skills across oral, written and slide deck formats
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to handle large datasets
  • Strong working knowledge of best practice sustainability standards and frameworks (such as the GRI Standards, SASB, TCFD, UNGC, SDGs, UNGPs, IFC PS, FTSE 4 Good, IIRC, etc.)
  • Good understanding of current and emerging sustainability-related regulatory requirements (such as human rights due diligence, climate change risk management, etc)
  • Proven track record of business development success (if previously held consulting roles)
