We have a new opportunity for an enthusiastic, dedicated team member to join our growing company as an Equipment Sterilization Technician. Our technicians are critical healthcare facility team members who deliver clean, disinfected medical equipment to designated locations in our customer's facilities. Technicians make rounds to pick up soiled medical equipment from designated locations in the facility, perform a thorough cleaning/disinfecting process to prepare the equipment for patient use, then return the equipment back into service.
The opening we have available is for first shift, part time and is location is in Lorain, OH. We offer competitive pay rates for our part-time staff.
Daily Responsibilities
Under the direction of the manager, you are responsible to make rounds, pick up and clean/disinfect certain medical equipment from designated departments within an Akron healthcare facility. You will tag and return cleaned equipment to the designated areas.
Responsibilities include:
- Following the manufacturer's and the facility's protocols for cleaning and disinfecting equipment
- Following proper handling and transport protocols of soiled and cleaned medical equipment
- Promptly delivering processed equipment to departments upon request
- Promptly responding to supply requests
- Using departmental software
- Appropriately performing duties in accordance with the healthcare facility's Infection Control Policies and Procedures
- Following a schedule for making rounds
- Tracking equipment in inventory, in utilization status and location. Keeping accurate electronic records.
- Leaving the work area clean and clear of soiled equipment, and following the departmental protocols when it is necessary to leave the equipment for the next shift
- Maintaining the work areas to keep a clean, orderly appearance

Basic Job Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited high school
- Able to work with cleaning and disinfecting chemicals
- Excellent communication skills to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to use computer software
- Non-Smoker. Must be able to pass a tobacco screening
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
- Immunization records must be current
- Mandatory flu vaccination is required
- Mandatory Covid-19 vaccine is required
- Mandatory, proper use of PPE is required
Preferred Job Qualifications
- Experience in a Customer Service environment
- Experience working within a hospital or healthcare setting
- Knowledge of cleaning and/or disinfection of medical equipment
Physical Requirements
- Demonstrate motor coordination and manual dexterity with hands, eyes and fingers in the performance of daily duties
- Demonstrate physical ability for prolonged standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, reaching, frequent bending and climbing stairs
- Demonstrate the knowledge of safe lifting techniques and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Maintain 20/40 vision accuracy, both near and far vision, color discrimination and depth perception. Must also maintain good hearing
- Push/Pull carts with medical equipment from various areas within a medical facility, weighing up to 50 lbs
Training Requirements
- Willing to participate in on-site training programs as assigned
- Obtain and maintain a complete knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations and standards, JCAHO/DNV regulations
- Successfully complete annual education requirements, facility in-service training (fire, safety, emergency procedure, infection control, etc.) and keep up to date on sterilization/cleaning techniques
