1st Shift Equipment Specialist - $500 Sign On Bonus
Starting pay is $23/hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
Diagnose and repair Optical Lab and store equipment. Ensure all preventive maintenance is completed at stores. Set up optical equipment for all new and remodel locations. Perform Optical Lab facility and grounds maintenance. Both first and second shift opportunities available.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
OPTICAL LAB MAINTENANCE
- Understand each machine’s design and function
- Diagnose and repair Optical Lab equipment
- Complete weekly preventive maintenance on machines
- Complete all daily job duties to include calibrations, blade changes, filter changes, etc.
- Inspect, operate, and test equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions
- Document all repair and maintenance actions
- Communicate with vendors to follow up on parts orders and equipment diagnosis
OPTICAL CENTER MAINTENANCE
- Diagnose and repair store equipment (in person or by phone)
- Perform routine preventive maintenance for stores
- Ship and receive loaner equipment
- Set up optical equipment for new stores
- Order parts as needed
- Check-in and re-stock parts
- Return warranty and/or defective products to vendors
- Document all repair and maintenance actions
OPTICAL LAB FACILITY MAINTENANCE
- Perform routine preventive maintenance
- Ensure building systems operate efficiently
- Perform all building maintenance to include HVAC, plumbing, lighting, electrical, landscaping, snow removal, etc. to meet standards
TRAINING AND IMPROVEMENT
- Attend training classes for new equipment
- Engage in on-going training with Equipment Lead
- Remain current on new product information
- Learn to prioritize responsibilities to ensure exceptional internal and external customer service
MAINTAIN SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Follow all company and lab policies and guidelines
- Adhere to safety guidelines and OSHA regulations
- Perform stretching before reporting to workstation
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Preferably 2 years of equipment maintenance experience
- Proven ability to repair sophisticated equipment
- Optical experience a plus, but not required
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, data entry, etc.)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Interpersonal skills

- Self-motivated and detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Valid driver’s license
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and two-way verbal communication
- Able to read and write at a high school graduate level
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Able to operate various office equipment and Optical Lab equipment
- Demonstrate physical agility (bending, climbing, twisting, squatting, lifting, pushing, reaching, etc.) on a repetitive basis
- Ability to lift an average of 25-35 pounds on a repetitive basis and up to 75 pounds
- Ability to operate a pallet jack
- Ability to see (Near, Distance, Color, and Depth Perception)
- Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand/arm steadiness
- Ability to grip and hold items
- Good eye and hand coordination
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Able to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, and weekends) office hours to meet established deadlines
- Able to travel independently to support Company objectives and personal development
