Job Title: Equipment Operator (Shipping)

Reports to: Shipping Manager

Classification: Non-Exempt

Scope of Responsibility: Working with Structural Steel utility and telecommunication towers. This position is responsible for nesting and securing poles for shipment to vendors and/or clients.

Essential Duties:

  • Must be able to accurately identify materials to load based on a shipment order
  • Responsible for efficiently stacking poles for shipment
  • Prepares 4x4 wood to stack poles
  • Performs minor repairs to poles as required prior to shipping
  • Uses forklifts, overhead cranes, and other heavy equipment to stack finished poles onto trucks
  • Performs safety routine inspections prior to operating equipment
  • Abides by all safety standards and policies including use of all Personal Protective Equipment
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • Produce quality work in a timely manner
  • Works Safely according to OSHA standards including wearing proper PPE to accomplish tasks

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent preferred
  • Experience with stacking material by utilizing dunnage to secure loads
  • Experience with powered and manual hand tools preferred
  • Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials
  • Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing environment for long shifts, including weekends
  • Position requires manual dexterity and arm-hand steadiness
  • Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures
  • Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources.
