The ideal candidate will provide support on various environmental projects and will support a variety of contracts, including federal, state, local, and commercial clients. The selected candidate’s responsibilities will help support environmental due diligence and compliance efforts for projects across Hawaii. Responsibilities may include

  • Field sampling and investigations
  • Field visits to document environmental conditions at sites
  • Desktop reviews of historical site data
  • Report preparation for due diligence assessments
  • Assistance with project coordination activities.
  • Responsibilities may require extensive outdoor work as well as travel.
  • Daily interaction with project teams, clients, subcontractors and regulatory agency staff is expected.
  • Hours per week will be variable (up to full-time during peak times).

Job Requirements:

This position requires a minimum of 1-3 years of environmental consulting or related experience. The ideal candidate will also have / be:

  • Experience with industrial hygiene or site investigation and field sampling is preferred.
  • Experience with conducting asbestos, lead-based paint surveys, RCRA and CERCLA regulatory requirements, field sampling and air monitoring is preferred.
  • Remediation oversight and remediation design; task management, Phase I and II environmental site assessments and investigations and report writing is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully support complex and time sensitive projects.
  • Highly motivated and work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent client interaction and organizational skills
  • Must possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, including Word and Excel, preferred.

In addition:

  • This position requires you to drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver’s license is required.
  • A background check will be required to access military bases.

Degree / Certifications

  • BS in biological sciences, earth sciences, or natural resources is required.
  • Current EPA AHERA Asbestos Inspector, EPA AHERA Project Monitor, EPA Lead Inspector, and 40-hour OSHA training with Hazmat are preferred.
  • State of Hawaii Asbestos Inspector license, State of Hawaii Asbestos Project Monitor license and State of Hawaii Lead Inspector license are preferred.

Work Environment

  • The work environment will consist of a mix of office and field work, with some field work requiring overnight stays required.
  • Candidate must be able to walk around project sites including in areas of uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to lift sample coolers and other equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear full-face respirator and complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing.
  • Field activities take place in a variety of weather conditions and can occur in remote locations.
  • Project work could occur nationwide, but most will be in Hawaii.
  • Travel requirements may include day-long projects that do not require overnight stays to multi-day field projects that do require overnight stay.
  • Approximately 25% travel.
