GRADEASTD8 LOCATION OF POSITIONMDH Somerset County Health Department, Westover MD Main Purpose of JobThe Environmental Health Aide III is the full performance level of work conducting environmental health surveys and investigations to determine compliance with applicable health and environmental laws and regulations. This position performs the full range of duties and responsibilities under general supervision. This position requires frequent phone and in person face to face contact with the public, other State and County agencies such as the Department of the Environment, Maryland Department of Health, Technical and Community Services, Social Services, and local businesses including well drillers, septic installers, real estate agents and surveyors. It also requires the ability to handle situations independently. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Three years of experience in sanitation or closely related field. Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute education at an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Environmental Engineering classifications or Environmental Engineering specialty codes in the Engineering and Natural Resources field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
