DutiesSummary This position is located in National Weather Service (NWS), Alaska Region Headquarters (ARH), and Data Acquisition, Facilities, and Electronics Branch (DAFEB), with one vacancy in Juneau, AK. As an Engineering Technician, you will perform the following duties: 25% or less - Up to 25% of domestic travel may be required. No 11 0802 Engineering Technical Requirements This position requires a Low Risk Security Clearance. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Travel and overtime work is required. The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion including walking, bending, crawling or climbing while performing field work. Work in the field (both interior and exterior) will require access to electrical manholes, mechanical rooms, ceiling and mezzanine area’s not accessible to some that are physical disabled. The work may require working from ladders or scaffolding, climbing towers, and may involve some lifting of objects over 50 lbs. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
